 About Athenus.com

Introduction
Athenus.com is the search engine of choice for scientists and engineers seeking resources in science and engineering on the web.
The Athenus search engine indexes hundreds of thousands of subject-specific web sites, publications, news and other resources, providing users with the most current, most focused collection of topic-specific material on the Internet.

History
Athenus.com has its origins in 'Engwho: The Engineering Search Engine', launched in 1999 as a public service to the engineering and science community. Despite being run on a shoestring budget by a tiny team, Engwho quickly flourished and developed a loyal following in both industry and academia.
In 2004, Engwho changed hands and was acquired by thinknew. The new ownership commited to provide the financial, technological and human resources required to adequately meet the growing requirements of the engineering and science search community. In April 2004, the Engwho site was officially relaunched as Athenus.com.

Mission Statement
It is the mission of Athenus.com to continue to provide the best search tools available for the engineering and science community.
In addition, we shall undertake to provide cutting edge services, advocacy and information relevant to our community in the most responsible of manners.

Technology
The proprietary technology behind Athenus.com allows the site to intelligently index hundreds of thousands of science and engineering related websites at a time.
Athenusbot is the Athenus.com web-crawling robot. Resources are screened for subject targeting at several levels, including both human editors and automated selection criteria.
Hence, targeted, subject-specific resources are constantly being added to our search results, providing the most current, focused search service in the field.
